Many have looked to CBD as a wonderful, holistic way of achieving symptom relief without the psychoactive properties that a full spectrum cannabis plant would cause. CBD (Cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive part of a cannabis plant and has been shown to reduce the “high” caused by the THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD has benefited many who are suffering with (including, but not limited to) anxiety, stress, chronic pain and inflammation. CBD comes in many variations and not all are created equal.

There has been a lot of confusion between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil. The reasoning behind it may be caused by the two being derived from the same hemp plant and both containing CBD. What makes them different from each other is which part of the plant it is extracted/made from and what it contains. With this in mind, the kind of symptom or task you may be trying to perform may change which one you would use.

Hemp Oil is derived from the hemp plant. It is primarily extracted from the hemp seeds, some also contain CBD extracted from the hemp stalks. Hemp plants contain less than 0.3% THC and when the hemp oil in ingested, you will not get “high” or “stoned” by it. Hemp oil will only contain CBD if its derived from the hemp stalks, not just the hemp seeds. Test have shown that there are no cannabinoids present in the hemp seeds. What this means in that Hemp Seed Oil does not contain CBD and does not have the same medicinal potential as a CBD Oil would have. The trace amounts of cannabinoids are found as a coat on the shell of the seed during the pressing stage. Hemp seeds can be made into a holistic nutritional supplement, but they are primarily used to make paper, food, clothing, fuel etc. For a natural supplement, hemp oil is very rich in vitamin E, omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids. This combination is great for overall wellness.

CBD Oil is derived from the hemp plant, just like hemp oil, but there is a significant difference between the two. CBD oil is made from the whole hemp plant, not just the seeds. What this means is that CBD oil contains all cannabinoids including, but not limited to CBD, THC, CBN, CBG etc. There are 85+ cannabinoids in the cannabis plant! With all the cannabinoids and terpenes present it has been shown to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, inflammation, pain, insomnia etc.
